Formats of teaching and capacity enhancement

CoE-URDM has developed different formats of teaching and capacity enhancement:

(1) Lecture Series
systematic overview lectures on current research themes on urban and regional development by national and international scholars: worldwide examples and case studies

(2) Seminar Series
paper presentations with intensive discussion on current and ongoing research projects in Myanmar and abroad

(3) Regional Knowledge Conference
national conferences as platform for inter-institutional research-based exchange in order to broaden the regional knowledge on different States, Regions and areas in Myanmar

(4) Workshop Series
capacity enhancement of scholars on methodological, thematic and regional issues; PhD and Master research skills

(5) Fieldwork/Field Excursion Series
qualification and capacity enhancement for research fieldwork, research methodology and on-site teaching

(6) CoE Coffee Corner
regular meetings to intensify interdisciplinary and inter-institutional exchange between scholars in a forum-like atmosphere


Staff Exchange

Numerous colleagues, staff and student members have been supported for shorter and longer stays for the purpose of research and capacity enhancement.

  • Prof. Dr. Josef Nipper: 21 September to 20 December 2015: teaching and research stay at the University of Yangon, supported by a Gottfried Herder scholarship of DAAD
